Where this started
Our founder served as an Army Ranger. Two deployments to Afghanistan. More than 300 combat missions. His brother served as a combat engineer. In our family, everyone deployed. Service is not something we read about. It is dinner table conversation.
Coming home was its own fight. The VA claim process came with forms nobody explained, exams that felt rushed, and decision letters that did not match the life we were living. We were told to wait. We were told to go see someone. We did both, and we still did not understand why a rating came out the way it did.
So we started reading. The rating schedule in 38 CFR Part 4. The effective date rules. The regulations on secondary conditions and decision reviews. The court decisions that shape how exams are supposed to work. It turns out the VA writes down exactly what it looks for. It just does not hand it to you in a form you can use.
Thirteen years, then 100 percent
It took the VA 13 years to rate one of our founders. Thirteen years of forms, exams, letters and waiting, for a rating that should have taken one filing. We took everything that fight taught us, the criteria, the evidence, the statements, the timing, and used it on the next claim. The other founder, a Purple Heart recipient, is now rated at 100 percent.
Two claims, two very different outcomes, and the only difference was knowing how the system actually decides. That is what we teach.
That is why the Playbook is built the way it is. It is the material we wish someone had put in our hands on day one: what the VA measures for each condition, what a secondary claim needs, how to describe your worst days accurately, which form to use and when the clock runs out.

The rules should not be a secret
You should not need to hire someone just to understand the rules that decide your rating. Our free Field Manual covers the basics for anyone who asks.
Accuracy over everything
We teach veterans to describe what they actually live with, completely and honestly. Never more. The truth, told in the VA’s terms, is what we are after.

A rating is not just a check. At the right level it reaches your spouse’s health care and your kids’ education. We keep the whole family in view.
